Hikurangi Forest Farms, now Aratu Forests Ltd, needed an answer to a tricky bridge project and Bridge It NZ, working in close collaboration with them, provided the ideal solution.
The project was a railway crossing bridge to enable safe access to forestry land at Maraetaha, 30 minutes south of Gisborne. The challenges – the bridge needed to be high enough to meet Kiwirail’s special height safety requirements and be designed specifically for the load requirements of their heavy forestry vehicles and equipment.
Bridge It NZ met the challenge with the a 21m Steel Beam / Concrete Deck bridging solution to meet their specific criteria. The bridge has a design loading of HN HO 72, in compliance with the NZTA Bridge Manual.
