Building Council Bridges

Councils have LTPs and budgets to meet, and many stakeholders to please

We understand the complexities and constraints of working in the local government sector and the procurement process that councils must follow. Bridge It NZ will help you cater for all mobility needs and multiple transport modes while also balancing environmental concerns and long-term plans and budgets.

Our bespoke, customised approach means your goals are always front-of-mind and your bridge or boardwalk will be safe, robust and fit-for-purpose. We expressly avoid over-engineering to keep costs down and provide innovative ideas and solutions for tricky sites. Our bridge materials and manufacturing process will minimise your project’s carbon footprint, and we frequently work with iwi, community groups, civil contractors, environmental consultants and other stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.

Design & Construction

Our bridges are custom built to suit your needs and multiple transport modes. They’ll safely cater for all ages and abilities and will withstand a 1-in-50 year flood at a minimum (and often double that).

Eco-Friendly

Protect natural waterways and install a low carbon emissions solution to help support mode shift. Our bridges are built to last and require minimal maintenance.

“I personally found Bridge It NZ very customer driven and felt decisions and planning revolved around doing what was right for the project and community. The end product has received a high level of praise from the mayor, multiple councillors, our local MP and most importantly, the community. The project was a success from start to finish.”

Tim Manning

Kaipara District Council

“This was not your typical construction gig. This was a collaborative project and Bridge It NZ were really comfortable presenting in a public meeting at a marae, in a big council meeting, or in a town hall meeting. They’re really good at working with the community.”

Geoff Canham

Thrive Spaces & Places

“...we place a major emphasis on getting value for money for the investment we make on behalf of the ratepayer. Working with Bridge It on this project delivered a cost saving for us which we were very pleased with.  The company came to the table with some innovative ideas and solutions on a tricky site.

Hamilton City Council

Call us to discuss your pedestrian footbridge or boardwalk needs

We’ll discuss everything from the type of bridge you need to the options available to you. Together, we’ll identify the most cost-effective materials and solution to meet your needs. By the end of our conversation, we’ll provide you with a high-level estimate based on your site requirements, whether it’s for design-only services for tender or a full installation.

2

We’ll visit your site

During our obligation-free site assessment, we will evaluate the best location for your bridge, consider potential floodwater heights, address council and consent requirements, discuss load specifications, and take all essential measurements. Alternatively, we may familiarize ourselves with the site and its constraints to provide an accurate price for a given design. What access solutions work best in community spaces?

We have many different options to help improve access within your community and cater for pedestrians, cyclists, scooters, wheelchairs and other mobility users. Our bridges and boardwalks are sympathetic to the site and will aesthetically blend into your environment.

A well-designed bridge or boardwalk is also a cost-effective investment. They are built to last and withstand extreme weather, require less ongoing maintenance, are an environmentally-sensitive solution and can be installed year-round. Over-engineering a solution can be costly but under-engineering one creates a safety and compliance risk. We can help you choose the right materials and design to meet your exact needs. Find out more about these ideal solutions for your community.
